How to get internet access in Malaysia

Internet

Internet technology in Malaysia is very advanced. Although the connection to broadband services outside the major cities is still developing, the general technology does not fall behind the international level.

Dial-up connection, meaning the user dials into a fixed phone line, is available throughout the country. The services are offered to a very affordable price. In the more rural areas, dial-up is still the most common form of using the internet.

Broadband Internet access (ADSL) and wireless internet services are accessible everywhere in and around Kuala Lumpur and other major cities of Malaysia.

The main broadband service provider is TMNet's Streamyx  which belongs to Telekom Malaysia. Other providers are Celcom  and Maxis .

Have a look on the websites of the different providers and decide which offers and bargains best suit your needs. To apply, sign up for service on the respective website and follow the instructions.

Internet cafés, coffee shops and restaurant providing wireless internet access are also widely available, yet so far only in the larger cities.
